How to Make a Ringtone on Your iPhone

To create your own ringtone, you will need to download the GarageBand application to your iPhone. This app requires 1.6GB of space. To use GarageBand, you will need a song. If you have the song already on your iPhone, you can sync it with iTunes or download it from a different app. Songs that are protected by digital rights management cannot be used with this app. It is a program that is designed for creating songs, so you should make sure you're using an unprotected version of the file.

You can choose any song, including the original, if it is a popular tune. However, if you're using a song that's too old for your phone, you may want to delete it first. A single-track album will not play because it's only one track, so it won't work as a ringtone. After removing the DRM protection, you can then choose a new tone to set as your ringtone.
